departure...

Besides photography, my other obsession would be reading. 2 of the best books that I’ve read so far, would be The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, and, Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. Love the way these books were written. Such profound passages that will leave you in deep thoughts...

Escaping to the world of words left me wanting to be involved, to depict myself in characters of the novel, and thus, the desire to write came about. Here’s one... nothing as weighty as those two writers; Khaled & Gregory, of course. But hey, it’s an original, by Rosalita Selamat. Ha!

Departure...

Many a times we lay together
Not breathing a word
What do I know, a departure entails...

We’ve shared laughter, pain, and tears.
Without a final word, there came the departure...
Desolation, throughout the years...
The memories remain...

Gone for years...
With my tears...

I won’t look back
I know I’ll follow your track...
You’ll knock on my door
And up we’ll go...
To a place we know...

This picture was taken back in 2009. Location: Kampong Buangkok, the only Malay village that is still standing here in Singapore.  I chose this picture as it evokes some kind of mixed feelings... loneliness, emptiness, forsaken? A picture that tells a story...
